A
HISTORIC SETTING
Founded in 2012 by the Dalton family, the Adamson occupies a historic site in South Street, St Andrews.
In the mid-1800’s our building was home to Dr John Adamson, a physician and photographic pioneer who took the first calotype portrait in Scotland in 1841.
Dr John’s residency here is celebrated by the blue plaque on our building, which is why we named the restaurant and our sister cocktail bar The Physician after him.
The Adamson has that desirable buzz you only get in restaurants that are highly successful: chefs working at full tilt & table after table of animated diners.

The Sunday Herald
The Adamson is leading the dynamic changes that are making St Andrews a 'must visit' destination for lovers of food and drink, not just in Scotland but also from further afield. The award-winning eatery consistently attracts diners from around the world who, when they find themselves in the home of golf, seek out the Adamson through choice.

Chef magazine
The Adamson has brought a truly urban-contemporary look and feel to St Andrews dining and drinking. Always busy but smart service. And the food, Modern British, seasonal and locally sourced, is somehow even better than you'd expect from this level of turnover and noise.
